Ex-leader of pro-kremlin party under investigation for calls to seize and destroy Ukraine
The SSU has collected evidence against pro-russian blogger and former head of the banned Derzhava party, Dmytro Vasylets.
Before russia’s full-scale invasion, he moved to moscow and publicly supported the aggressive war against Ukraine.
To spread russian propaganda, Vasylets used his channels on YouTube and in Telegram messenger with an overall audience of over 500,000 subscribers.
On these resources, he praised putin’s regime, justified russia’s full-scale invasion and called for annihilation of Ukraine.
He also repeatedly spoke in support of the kremlin at mass propaganda events attended by representatives of russia’s top military and political leadership.
On air of major russian TV channels, Vasylets personally called for seizure of state power and occupation of Ukraine’s entire territory.
Based on the evidence, the SSU has notified him of suspicion in absentia under Articles 27.3 and 109.2 of the CCU (public calls for forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power, as well as distribution of materials calling for such actions).
The suspect is hiding from prosecution in russia; efforts are underway to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
