SSU serves suspicion notice to former host of Medvedchuk and Murayev’s TV channels who being in Kyiv spread russian propaganda
The Security Service of Ukraine has collected a large evidence base and received independent expert opinions confirming the anti-Ukrainian activities of the former host of the sanctioned Nash and NewsOne TV channels, owned by Viktor Medvedchuk and Yevhen Muraiev.
According to the investigation, after the start of the full-scale war, the perpetrator created his channel on YouTube and continued to spread kremlin narratives.
To do this, the blogger regularly invited pro-russian ‘political experts’ to his broadcasts, many of whom are currently hiding in russia.
During the interviews, both the author and the studio guests repeatedly tried to justify russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as russian war crimes, including missile attacks on the civilian infrastructure.
Another pro-kremlin blogger was his frequent guest; in February 2024, the SSU declared him suspect too.
At that time, the court imposed a house arrest as a restraint measure, but he later continued his subversive activities for the enemy.
Both propagandists publicly tried to discredit Ukraine in the international arena and undermine the socio-political situation in our country.
The forensic linguistic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed the facts of committing crimes by both bloggers. SSU investigators have now notified them of suspicion under Article 436-2.2, 436-2.3 of the CCU (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The decision on custody as a measure of restraint is pending. They face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The complex measures were carried out by the investigators of the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
