SSU notifies suspicion to leadership of Sumy plant supplying pumps for nuclear reactors to russia
The SSU has eliminated a large-scale scheme of supplying strategically important products for the nuclear energy and oil and gas industries of the aggressor state.
The supplied goods are pumping equipment manufactured at a plant in Sumy, Ukraine. This enterprise is part of the russian financial and industrial group GMS, one of the largest ‘donors’ to the russian budget.
Following the investigation, the authorized capital, immovable and movable property of the Ukrainian facility worth almost UAH 365 mln have been seized.
According to the inquiry, after russia’s full-scale invasion, the plant’s management devised a scheme to supply Ukrainian products to russia, circumventing the sanctions imposed.
To conceal the unlawful activity, the offenders used commercial entities controlled by them from several European and Asian countries.
The foreign entities purchased the pumping equipment supposedly for their own needs and then transported it to end customers in russia.
The Sumy enterprise also supplied Ukrainian pumping equipment to two Asian states for the construction of nuclear power plants, which is carried out by Rosatom.
During the searches of the suspects’ offices and homes, the SSU seized documents, computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of the offence.
Two officials of the facility have been notified of suspicion under the Articles 28.3, 111-1.4 (collaboration, committed by an organized group).
The court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint for the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
The perpetrators are facing up to 10 years in prison.
The investigation was carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
