SSU serves notice of suspicion to UOC-MP clergyman who, together with Saldo, called for Kherson region`s ‘accession’ to russia
The SSU collected evidence on Hennadiy Shkil, the rector-collaborator of the UOC-MP church in the temporarily occupied city of Hola Prystan on the left bank of Kherson region.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the archpriest publicly supported russian armed aggression and the occupation of Ukrainian territory.
In July 2022, Shkil, together with gauleiter Saldo, participated in pro-kremlin ‘forum’ held at the then-occupied Kherson State University, where he called for region`s `accession` to russia.
Then, the offender gave an interview to the russian propagandists from the occupation broadcasting company `Tavriya`, praising the organization of the russian sham-referendum in Kherson region.
The SSU-initiated examination confirmed the clergyman`s information and subversive activities.
Based on the evidence, the SSU investigators served Hennadiy Shkil suspicion notice in absentia under such Articles of the CCU:
- Article 436-2.1,3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, support of russian armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants)
- Article 111-1.6 (collaboration)
For the perpetrator is hiding in the left bank of Kherson region, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine. This may, the SSU served a notice of suspicion to the Hennadiy Shkil`s son, Nazar Shkil, for cooperation with occupiers.
The operation was conducted by the SSU Offices in Kherson and Poltava regions under the procedural supervision of Poltava Region Prosecutor’s Office.
