Unit commander notified of suspicion: he led militants in shelling of Ukrainian positions in Luhansk region
The SSU has served a suspicion notice to a member of an illegal armed formation of the so-called LNR. The militant was detained by the JFO servicemen in an attempt to cross the contact line.
According to preliminary information, the individual was disoriented and approached the government-controlled positions. He was wearing Russian military uniform.
The pre-trial investigation established that the detainee was a commander of the enemy’s motorized rifle unit. Under his leadership, the militants took part in shelling of Ukrainian military positions.
In February 2020, the individual received Russian citizenship.
Currently, this militant is suspected of a crime under the Article 260.2 of the CCU (participation in unlawful armed formations).
The court has chosen detention as a measure of restraint.
The pre-trial investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of illegal activity and bring to justice all those involved in crimes against Ukraine’s state security.
The SSU Military Counterintelligence and the investigators of the SSU Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation and investigation under the supervision of Luhansk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
