SSU serves notice of suspicion to Crimea resident who fought against Ukraine and was taken prisoner
The SSU has collected evidence against another traitor who fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces on the southern front.
The offender was captured by Ukrainian defenders in late June this year during combat near the village of Pyatikhatky, Zaporizhzhia oblast.
According to the investigation, the captive was a resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea. Having pro-kremlin views, he supported russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
In January 2023, he voluntarily joined the 810th separate marine brigade of the russian navy, which was stationed in the Crimea.
As a senior rifleman, the soldier took direct part in warfare against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Vasylivka and Polohy districts of Zaporizhzhia region.
Earlier this summer, his unit received an order to storm settlements that had recently been liberated by the Defence Forces.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served the captive a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment.
The SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region is conducting the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
