SSU serves notice of suspicion to organizers of raider seizure of Buchavodokanal

The SSU has identified all participants of the attempted raider seizure of the Buchavodokanal utility company in Kyiv region.

Among the organizers of the crime is the leadership of a local volunteer battalion.

The investigation established that in August last year 10 armed volunteers had illegally broken into the territory of the water supply facility, which is in the communal ownership of Bucha Town Council.

After entering the territory of the enterprise, the attackers blocked the movement of its four employees.

Threatening them with physical violence, the raiders prevented workers from ensuring maintenance of the water pumping station and pumps, which caused interruptions in the town’s water supply.

During the searches at the suspects’ homes, the headquarters of the volunteer group and premises of Irpin Town Council, the law enforcement found unregistered automatic weapons and over 250 rounds of ammunition of assorted calibres.

Currently, three organizers of the raider seizure have been served a notice of suspicion under Article 146.2 of the CCU (illegal imprisonment or abduction of a person).

In addition, the suspects’ actions may be further qualified under the Article 341.2 of the CCU (seizure of state or public buildings or structures). Court is to choose a measure of restraint.

The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the investigation jointly with the National Police under the supervision of Kyiv Specialized Military and Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
