SSU notifies suspicion to russian ‘political scientist’ Mikheyev who called to turn Sumy into ‘dead zone’
The SSU has collected evidence against russian propagandist Sergey Mikheyev, who publicly supported russia’s armed aggression and called for a complete destruction of border towns in Ukraine.
Mikheyev positions himself as a political scientist and regularly spreads anti-Ukrainian narratives on the air of key kremlin mouthpieces, e.g. rossiya-1 and rossiya 24 TV channels, as well as the Radio of russia, Mayak and Vesti FM radio stations.
During one of his speeches in June this year, Mikheyev called on the command of the russian occupation troops to carry out a series of massive missile, artillery and air strikes on Sumy.
In this way, the enemy propagandist campaigned to turn the Ukrainian city into a so-called ‘dead zone’, where ‘no living people should be left’.
In addition to attacks on Sumy, Mikheyev ‘suggested’ continuing regular air strikes on settlements along the Ukrainian border until their complete destruction, justified and supported occupation of Ukrainian territories.
The SSU-initiated linguistic examination confirmed the suspect’s criminal activity.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Mikheyev of suspicion under Article 110.2 of the CCU (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability).
The suspect is hiding from prosecution in russia; comprehensive efforts are underway to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The decision to put Mikheyev on the international wanted list is pending. He is facing up to 10 years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Sumy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
