SSU serves suspicion notices to another 2 militants who took part in capturing Volnovakha and Mariupol
The SSU has collected evidence on another two traitors who joined russian occupation groupings and fought against the Defence Forces in eastern and southern Ukraine.
Both militants voluntarily joined combat units of the Southern military district of the russian army.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, they took an active part in the battles in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
Both perpetrators were captured during fierce combat near Avdiivka and Robotyne in October this year.
According to the SSU Military Counterintelligence, one of the ‘soldiers’ was a machine gunner in the terrorist Bezler’s group.
After 24 February 2022, he, together with russian troops, captured Volnovakha and Verkhniotoretske in Donetsk region.
For this, the local occupation administration head Pushilin awarded the so-called ‘order of the republic’ to the suspect’s unit.
Later, the group was redeployed to Krasnohorivka area to storm Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka.
Another traitor is a resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea. On 1 August 2023, he signed a contract with russia’s ministry of defence and joined the ranks of the ‘kadyrov’ regiment of the 42nd motorized rifle division of the aggressor state.
The militant had stormed Mariupol and, after the city was captured, took part in the so-called ‘clearing’ of the resistance movement.
Then, he was sent for a month to invaders’ military training in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk.
After completing the ‘course’, the militant was deployed to the area near Robotyne village to deter Ukraine’s counter-offensive.
SSU investigators have notified both detained enemy ‘servicemen’ of suspicion under Article 111.1, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason). The suspects face life imprisonment.
The investigations were carried out under the procedural supervision of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
