SSU investigates four traitors who stormed Avdiivka and Kupiansk

The Security Service of Ukraine has collected evidence against another four traitors who fought against Ukraine on the Eastern front. Following the investigation, one of the perpetrators has been already convicted to 15 years in prison.

In spring this year, Ukrainian defenders took him prisoner, when he tried to break through to Kupiansk together with the enemy unit.

According to the investigation, this is a resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea. In early 2024, while in moscow, he enrolled to join a russian unit.

The man was sent to the 2nd motorized rifle division of the russian armed forces and took part in the so called ‘human wave’ attacks on Kupiansk.

Another three traitors were captured during the battles near Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Lysychansk in the beginning of this summer.

They are residents of the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The men voluntarily joined russian occupation troops, some of them did so before the onset of the full-scale invasion.

One of the militants was a flamethrower operator in the ‘DNR’s people’s militia’ and took part in capturing Popasna and Lysychansk. Later, he was sent to fire at the AFU positions near Bilohorivka.

Another traitor went to Kaluga, russia, and concluded a contract with the russian MoD.

After a short training, he was appointed a rifleman in the 1008th motorized rifle regiment and was sent to Bakhmut.

One more militant is a repeat offender, who joined the russian Vostok regiment and took part in combat near Avdiivka.

Based on the evidence, the SSU notified the three captured individuals of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (voluntary participation in unlawful armed formations).

The enemy accomplice from the Crimea was found guilty and sentenced by the court under the same Articles to 15 years in prison.

The investigations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Poltava, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of prosecutor’s offices.
