SSU serves notice of suspicion to ex-MP Muraiev of high treason

The SSU has collected evidence against the leader of the banned political party Nashi, a former MP Yevhen Muraiev, who is involved in subversive activities against Ukraine.

Given the collected evidence, the SSU served him a notice of suspicion under two articles of the CCU:

  • Part 1 of Art. 111 (high treason);
  • Part 1 of Art. 161 (violation of equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds).

According to the investigation, Muraiev used the Nash TV channel to disseminate Kremlin narratives in the Ukrainian information space en masse.

In this way, the malefactor purposefully used his own media resource to manipulate the public opinion of Ukrainians in favour of russia. Particularly, it concerned the presentation of distorted information about the internal situation of Ukraine and its perception on the international stage.

In this regard, in early February 2022, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against Muraiev's TV channel.

Following extended independent examinations initiated by the SSU, the facts of the defendant's criminal activity against the state security of Ukraine have now been finally confirmed.

The comprehensive measures are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crimes. The offender is facing up to 15 years of imprisonment.

In the fall of 2022, the SSU conducted a set of searches at Muraiev's residences and offices.

During the searches, the SSU has identified cash in russian rubles, weapons, as well as computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of illegal actions.

The investigation was carried out under the supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
