SSU notifies suspicion in absentia to ruscist who commanded ‘Kinzhal’ strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities
The Security Service of Ukraine has documented war crimes committed by another serviceman of the russian armed forces command, involved in the destruction of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
The individual in question is russian colonel Aleksei Yamakidi, former commander of the 44th special purpose aviation regiment of the long-range aviation of the air force of the aggressor state.
According to the investigation, between October 2022 and March 2023 Yamakidi ordered his subordinates to carry out air strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine.
To execute the attacks, the russians used 9-S-7760 Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missile systems.
In addition, the enemy regularly used long-range weapons to launch massive strikes on residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Yamakidi of suspicion in absentia of crimes under Articles 28.2, 438.1 of the CCU (war crimes, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
Efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice are underway.
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
