SSU notifies ruscist commander of suspicion for ordering Kinzhal missile strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector

The Security Service of Ukraine has collected new evidence confirming that the aggressor state is deliberately and consciously destroying Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure with missiles and attack drones.

The investigation has established that one of the russian military commanders who gave such orders is colonel Aleksei Yamakidi, former commander of the 44th special purpose long-range aviation regiment of the russian air force.

The SSU has documented new episodes of enemy attacks in which Yamakidi ordered the use of 9-S-7760 Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missile systems against energy facilities in Ukraine.

Through these actions, the occupiers are trying to destroy Ukraine’s electricity and heat-generation infrastructure in order to leave people without light and heating during the winter season.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators have issued a new in absentia notice of suspicion to Aleksei Yamakidi under Articles 28.2, 438.1 and 28.2, 438.2 of the CCU (war crimes, committed by a group acting upon prior conspiracy, resulting in the death of people).

In the summer of 2025, this russian military official had been declared suspect in connection with other episodes of strikes on Ukraine.

Efforts to bring the culprit to justice are underway. Every war criminal will be identified and held accountable.

The investigation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
