SSU serves suspicion notices in absentia to another two russian generals who ordered Iskander missile strike on Chernihiv drama theatre
The Security Service of Ukraine has collected evidence against another two russian generals who commanded the air strike on Chernihiv on 19 August 2023.
On that day, the ruscists launched a missile attack on Taras Shevchenko Chernihiv Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre.
The attack killed 7 residents of Chernihiv, including a six-year-old child. More than 200 other people sustained injuries of varying severity.
According to the investigation, the order to strike the civilian object was given by lieutenant general Mikhail Zusko, first deputy commander and chief of staff of russia’s ‘West’ military grouping.
Prior to this, he received a corresponding order from his superior, russian colonel-general Yevgeny Nikiforov, who has already been declared suspect in absentia by the SSU.
Zusko instructed the head of the enemy grouping’s missile forces, major general Oleksandr Dragovalovskyi, to carry out the criminal order.
The occupiers used a cruise missile of the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system, which was launched from Kursk region, russia.
In addition to the dead and injured, apartment buildings, administrative buildings and private cars were damaged in the attack.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Zusko and Dragovalovskyi of suspicion in absentia under Articles 28.2, 438.2 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
Efforts to bring them to justice are underway.
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Chernihiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
