SSU continues internal cleansing: Internal Security detains FSB agent in frontline unit

The Security Service of Ukraine continues the systematic cleansing of its own ranks. The SSU Main Directorate of Internal Security has detained an enemy agent in one of the Service’s frontline units.

As the investigation identified, the suspect was leaking information to russia’s federal security service on the operational developments and criminal proceedings of the Security Service.

The ruscists were interested in materials on their agent networks and agitators, as well as the personal data of SSU personnel conducting these investigations.

‘The staff of the SSU Main Directorate for Internal Security have once again demonstrated a high level of professionalism. Systematic efforts to cleanse the Service and the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a whole continue. Exposing traitors and enemy agents remains one of my top priorities. Anyone who collaborates with the aggressor will inevitably be held accountable,’ said Acting Head of the SSU Yevheniy Khmara.

As has been established, the russian intelligence recruited the official through her father – a resident of the temporarily occupied city of Berdiansk who collaborates with the enemy.

Specifically, the suspect’s father acted as a ‘liaison’ and, via a messaging app, instructed his daughter on how to collect intelligence for the FSB. The agent, in turn, recorded classified information on her smartphone or jotted it down on a notepad right at her workplace. Once home, she passed this information on to the russian side.

After establishing all the circumstances of the perpetrator’s espionage and subversive activities, she was detained. During the search, a smartphone containing evidence of her work for the FSB was seized.

SSU investigators are preparing a notice of suspicion to be served to the detainee under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect faces life imprisonment and confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
