SSU carries out historic special operation in russia’s rear, hitting 41 enemy strategic aircraft – Vasyl Maliuk
The Security Service of Ukraine carried out an unprecedented and unique special operation to simultaneously strike four military airfields in russia’s rear, where enemy aircraft are stationed.
41 aircraft were hit as a result of the drone strikes, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22 M3 and Tu-160.
This was reported by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
‘The destruction of enemy bombers is a task set before us by the President of Ukraine, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Volodymyr Zelenskyi. He personally supervised the special operation prepared by the Security Service. The adversary bombed our country almost every night from these aircraft, and today they have felt that retribution is inevitable. The SSU is doing and will do everything possible to protect Ukraine and stop russian strikes,’ Vasyl Maliuk said.
The Head of the SSU led the team that prepared the special operation Web for over a year and a half.
As a result, SSU drones targeted four russian military airfields at once – Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya and Ivanovo. Due to this plan, it was possible to strike the largest number of enemy aircraft simultaneously.
‘In total, 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers at the main russian airfields were hit. This was not just a devastating blow to russian aviation, but a serious slap in the face to the power and terrorist nature of the russian federation,’ Vasyl Maliuk emphasized.
The estimated cost of russia’s strategic aircraft that was hit is over USD 7 billion.
According to Vasyl Maliuk, Operation Web took place simultaneously in three time zones and was extremely complex logistically.
First, the SSU transported FPV-drones to russia, followed by mobile wooden cabins. Once in russia, the drones were hidden under the roofs of these cabins, which were placed on trucks. At the right moment, the cabins’ roofs were opened remotely, and the drones took off to strike their targets – the russian bombers.
‘In accordance with the laws and customs of war, we have struck completely legitimate targets – military airfields and aircraft that are bombing our peaceful cities. So, on our part, this is a real demilitarization of russia, because we are destroying military targets. Our strikes will continue for as long as russia terrorizes Ukrainians with missiles and shahed drones,’ Vasyl Maliuk remarked.
He thanked the SSU personnel who were involved in this historic special operation, stressing that they all returned to Ukraine a while ago.
‘The enemy thought it could bomb Ukraine and kill Ukrainians endlessly and with impunity. This is not the case. We will respond to russian terror and destroy the enemy everywhere – at sea, in the air and on land. And if necessary, we will get them out from under the ground,’ the SSU Head noted.
