SSU recommends sanctions against new owners of aircraft travelling to aggressor state

The Head of the SSU Ivan Bakanov has informed during the briefing that the SSU recommended the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions on new aircraft owners, previously associated with the company JET4U S.R.L.

The SSU Head noted that in January the NSDC introduced sanctions against the Moldovan charter operator, upon the recommendation of the Service. However, there were attempts to circumvent the restrictions.

‘At the time of the decision on sanctions, four aircrafts were outside Ukraine, and one plane, used by Medvedchuk, was and still is at Zhuliany airport. Shortly afterwards, the aircraft beneficiaries began to change owners and service companies,’ Ivan Bakanov commented.

He added that in February the SSU recommended to update the sanctions imposing them on new non-resident owners.

‘But the sanctioned entities did not stop at this. We record attempts to change owners, service companies and tail numbers, and in this way to bypass sanctions. Still, I do not think that these legal tricks will work. Today, the SSU recommended the NSDC to impose sanctions against the new owners as well,’ the Head of the SSU pointed out.
