The Joint Centre for Coordination of Search and Liberation of Prisoners of War under the Security Service of Ukraine has already begun preparation for the exchange of 1,000 prisoners.

In particular, the SSU is compiling a list of russian military personnel held in Ukrainian captivity who can be handed over to russia.

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Healthcare and other agencies, is preparing to receive Ukrainian defenders who are currently in russian captivity. The necessary infrastructure, locations and medical personnel are being prepared to receive, escort and rehabilitate our military personnel.

The agreement on simultaneous release and transfer of 1 000 PoWs was reached between Ukrainian and russian delegations in Istanbul on 16 May 2025.
