SSU is investigating 85% of all crimes committed by russia in Ukraine since start of full-scale war (video)

Since the start of the full-scale war, the SSU has been investigating more than 160,000 criminal offenses related to russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. This accounts for a massive 85% of all war crimes currently under investigation by Ukrainian law enforcement.

Foremost among these crimes are the murders and abduction of civilians by ruscists, as well as the shelling of critical and social infrastructure, including power plants, schools, and kindergartens.

Investigative actions are also ongoing regarding the occupiers' cruel treatment of prisoners of war and russia's use of chemical weapons.

Based on evidence provided by the Security Service of Ukraine, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for putin and Lvova-Belova, russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, for the deportation of Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories.

In addition, russian citizen Yan Petrovsky was sentenced to life imprisonment in Finland for his role in the mass murder of Ukrainian soldiers in Luhansk region in the fall of 2014.

While committing the war crime, the ruscist took photographs posing with the bodies of killed and tortured Ukrainian servicemen.

Moreover, based on materials gathered by the SSU, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for:

  • Army General Sergey Shoigu – former russian Minister of Defence, who currently serves as the Secretary of the aggressor state’s Security Council;
  • Army General Valery Gerasimov – Chief of the General Staff of the russian Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defence;
  • Lieutenant General Sergey Kobylash – Commander of Long-Range Aviation of the russian Aerospace Forces;
  • Vice Admiral Viktor Sokolov – Commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian Federation’s Navy.

In addition to them, dozens of other high-ranking russian military officials have been notified of suspicion in absentia for organizing attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.

Among them is Colonel General Oleg Makarevich, commander of the Dnepr group of forces, who gave the order for the artillery shelling of Kherson on May 3, 2023. As a result of that russian attack, 24 city residents were killed and 51 people sustained injuries of varying severity.

The russian General also commanded the detonation of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant on the night of June 5-6, 2023.

The SSU is also documenting the enemy’s use of chemical weapons, which are prohibited under International Humanitarian Law, against the Defense Forces. This involves over 10,000 documented cases of the enemy deploying aerosol grenades equipped with poisonous substances, specifically: CS (Chlorobenzylidenemalonitrile), CN (Chloroacetophenone), and Chloropicrin.

The OPCW in The Hague prepared and published three reports, utilizing SSU materials, to hold the russian federation accountable for chemical attacks.

SSU investigators continue their comprehensive, 24/7 work to bring to justice all those involved in crimes against Ukraine.
