SSU and Defence Forces strike St Petersburg oil terminal

As part of the 40-day operation to exert pressure on russia, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, carried out a successful strike on the St Petersburg Oil Terminal in the Leningrad oblast of russia, in fulfilment of the tasks set by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Multiple strikes by Ukrainian drones on the oil terminal’s premises resulted in at least three fires. This installation is one of the largest transhipment complexes for crude oil and petroleum products in north-west russia. It covers 37 hectares, has 21 storage tanks for petroleum products and has a throughput capacity of 12.5 million tonnes per year.

Systematic strikes against oil infrastructure deprive russia of the resources it uses to finance its aggression, complicate fuel supply logistics, and increase the economic cost of the war for the kremlin. The longer russia continues to escalate, the more severe the consequences for its strategic infrastructure will be. The Security Service will continue to strike legitimate military and economic targets until russia ends the war.
