SSU and Security and Defence Forces conduct latest repatriation of Ukraine’s fallen defenders
As part of the latest repatriation efforts, 522 bodies (remains) of Ukraine’s fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine.
The return of the fallen was the result of joint and coordinated efforts by the Joint Centre for the Coordination of the Search for and Liberation of Prisoners of War under the SSU, the Central Directorate for Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and other components of Ukraine’s security and defence sector.
Behind each such repatriation lies complex inter-agency work aimed at ensuring that Ukraine’s fallen defenders are returned home and that their families are given the opportunity to bid a dignified farewell to their loved ones.
In the near future, investigators of the law enforcement agencies, together with expert units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out the necessary examinations and ensure the identification of the repatriated remains.
The Security Service of Ukraine, in conjunction with other state agencies, continues its work to repatriate the bodies of Ukraine’s fallen service personnel.
May the fallen defenders of Ukraine rest in peace.
