The Security Service of Ukraine jointly with the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine and the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Poland carried out a multi-stage international special operation in the EU. For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, a enemy  agent who worked against Ukraine in the information sphere was handed over to Ukraine, at the SSU’s request.

He was initially detained in Poland and is now in custody in a Kyiv pre-trial detention center.

The person in question is a ‘political expert’ from the media pool of Viktor Medvedchuk, who is suspected of high treason.

According to the investigation, the individual was recruited and worked simultaneously for two special services of the aggressor state: russia’s federal security service (FSB) and foreign intelligence service (SVR). On the occupiers’ orders, he discredited Ukraine in the international arena and worked to undermine the internal situation in the countries - partners of Ukraine.

In 2022, he moved to russia and later became one of the key ideologues of the kremlin’s media projects Other Ukraine and Voice of Europe.

The traitor was also one of the frequent guests of Vladimir Solovyov’s talk show. In 2023 alone, he participated 35 times in the propagandist’s live broadcasts, where he justified russia’s armed aggression and spread fakes about the situation in Ukraine.

For the kremlin, the enemy accomplice also organized street rallies in the EU, calling for international support for Ukraine to be cut off.

Another part of his subversive activity were the public calls to prepare and carry out contracted terrorist attacks in Ukraine.

For this purpose, the ‘political expert’ used his Telegram channel, regularly reposting chatbots of russian special services that collect intelligence on Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Articles 436-2.3, 111-1.6 of the CCU (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants and collaboration).

The investigation is ongoing.
