SSU and SBI expose heads of district Territorial Recruitment Centres in Ternopil region who inflated conscripts’ number in reports
The SSU Military Counterintelligence and the State Bureau of Investigation have exposed three district Territorial Recruitment Centres’ heads in the Ternopil region for falsifying mobilisation indicators.
According to the investigation, the officials entered incorrect data into the electronic register of conscripts, thereby inflating the numbers reported.
To do this, they re-registered data on individuals who had already been conscripted, presenting them as new recruits to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
These manipulations created the appearance of fulfilling mobilisation plans without actually conscripting those liable for military service.
It has been documented that, at one stage of the offence alone, the perpetrators falsified data on over 70 conscripts.
The suspects have now been notified of suspicion under Article 362.1, 362.3 of the CCU for unauthorised actions involving information processed in automated systems.
The officials have been suspended from their duties. The investigation is ongoing. The perpetrators face up to six years’ imprisonment.
The operation was carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Ternopil Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office for the Western Region.
