SSU and SBI detain enemy mole helping occupiers carry out airstrikes on Kyiv and Chernihiv region
The SSU Military Counterintelligence and the State Bureau of Investigation have exposed yet another enemy agent within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He turned out to be a State Border Guard Service inspector, who guided air strikes on Ukraine’s northern regions.
The investigation established that the suspect mapped out routes on Google Maps for ‘safe’ movement of russian missiles and strike drones evading Ukrainian air defences.
During duty trips to the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, the agent recorded the positions of radar stations, anti-aircraft missile systems, and mobile air defence groups.
He then marked the routes on an electronic map connecting the locations of Ukrainian air defence systems and calculated their elevation above ground level.
The traitor stored the gathered information on his smartphone for subsequent transmission to his handler in russia. The latter’s identity has already been established. He is serving in the russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’).
On the GRU’s instructions, the agent also attempted to track the locations of Ukrainian military drone units and energy infrastructure.
The SSU uncovered the enemy’s intentions at an early stage and apprehended their asset while he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential target.
A smartphone containing intelligence and the coordinates of Ukrainian facilities collected for russia was seized from him during the search.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation under the procedural guidance of the Chernihiv Specialised Prosecutor’s Office for Defence in the Central Region.
