SSU and National Police detain two enemy agents who blew up prosecutor’s car in Dnipro

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police identified and apprehended two agents of russian special services within hours of their involvement in a terrorist attack in Dnipro on 6 June this year.

The perpetrators were involved in detonating an improvised explosive device under the car of a local prosecutor’s office employee.

As a result of this crime, the law enforcement officer suffered minor injuries, and his vehicle was completely destroyed. According to doctors, the prosecutor’s life is not in danger.

The investigation established that the enemy agents were two men recruited by russia through Telegram channels offering easy money.

Initially, their task was to establish surveillance of the ‘potential target’ and report on his daily schedule and travel routes. Then, on their handler’s instructions, one of the assets was to plant an IED under the prosecutor’s car and take photos and videos of the aftermath of the attack.

Both detainees are now giving incriminating testimony to law enforcement agencies about their handler and their sabotage activities against Ukraine.

SSU investigators have notified the detained individuals of suspicion under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).

The suspects face up to 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
