SSU and National Police detain FSB agent who blew up military prosecutor’s car in Odesa on russia’s order

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have apprehended an agent of russia’s federal security service who prepared a terrorist attack in downtown Odesa on 20 February this year.

Then the enemy blew up the vehicle of the prosecutor of the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region. A passerby was injured by the explosion.

In the evening of the same day, the law enforcement detained the perpetrator of the attack – an 18-year-old Odesa resident, recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel offering ‘easy’ money.

In a rented apartment, he made an improvised explosive device with a capacity of 300 g in TNT equivalent.

To increase the destructive power, the individual stuffed the bomb with metal nuts and placed it under the military prosecutor’s car.

The terrorist also installed a hidden mobile phone with a remote access function for the FSB in front of the target.

Later, the russian service remotely activated the IED.

During the searches, a mobile phone with evidence of the suspect’s communication with the occupiers was seized.

He was served a notice of suspicion under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act).

The court is to decide on custody without bail as a measure of restraint. The suspect faces up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was caried out by the SSU Office in Odesa region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region.
