The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police carried out a special operation and detained the suspect in the murder of civil activist Demian Hanul.

According to available information, the man who shot the activist is a 46-year-old deserter.

The investigation is underway. The law enforcement agencies are looking into possible motives and versions of the crime, including a contract killing and a russian ‘trace’ in the murder.

The pre-trial investigation is conducted with the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office under Article 115.2 of the CCU – premeditated murder.
