SSU and National Police detain two perpetrators of terrorist attack in Brovary in hot pursuit
The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, has detained two individuals involved in a terrorist attack in Brovary, Kyiv region.
According to the investigation, the explosion occurred near a private residence on the evening of April 13. As a result, a 36-year-old man sustained minor injuries.
It has been established that an improvised explosive device was used.
The bomb was planted near a fence and detonated remotely via a mobile phone call. The perpetrators also attached a mobile device to a street power pole to record the attack.
The law enforcement apprehended the suspects within hours of the crime. The perpetrators were identified as a 23-year-old resident of Brovary and his 17-year-old accomplice from Chernivtsi region. The latter was detained at a railway station in Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Vinnytsia region, while attempting to leave Ukraine.
During urgent searches, officers seized evidence of sabotage, including mobile phones, SIM cards, electric detonators, and clothing used during the attack.
According to available information, the suspects acted on the instructions from russian intelligence services, whose handler had promised them financial compensation.
SSU investigators are currently establishing all circumstances of the crime under criminal proceedings initiated under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act).
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
