SSU and National Police detain four arsonists who acted on russia’s orders in Kyiv and Kharkiv

The Security Service and the National Police have apprehended another two groups of enemy accomplices who were burning cars of the Defence Forces.

The individuals came to the attention of the aggressor when they were looking for quick money on Telegram. However, instead of the promised payments from russia, the arsonists received suspicion notices from Ukrainian law enforcement.

Two local residents aged 16 and 18 were detained in Kyiv. They set fire to an Armed Forces multivan and pickup truck that were undergoing maintenance after combat missions in Donetsk region.

To quickly escape from the scene, the young men used a moped from a courier delivery company they had recently joined.

Both suspects were detained almost immediately after the arson attack on the AFU vehicles.

Another two perpetrators were detained in Kharkiv. One of them was a former prisoner released from a penal colony a month ago; there he had served a sentence for theft and bodily harm.

He involved his friend in the sabotage activities.

Immediately after the arson attack, the SSU internal security officers and the National Police detained both suspects.

During the searches, mobile phones, clothes and flammable mixtures used in the crime were seized.

The detained individuals were notified of suspicion under several Articles of the CCU (in accordance with the offences each of them committed):

  • 28.2, 194.2 (intentional damage to property by arson, committed by a group);
  • 28.2, 114-1.1 (obstruction of the AFU’s lawful activities, during a special period, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).

The suspects are in custody and face up to 10 years in prison.

The operations were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
