SSU and National Police detain perpetrators of both terrorist attacks committed in Odesa on July 28 within 24 hours (video)
The SSU and the National Police have detained the perpetrators of both terrorist attacks that took place in Odesa on July 28 of this year. As a result of comprehensive measures taken over the 24-hour period, three russian agents were detained, they had planted improvised bombs under the cars of a Ukrainian soldier and a civilian.
As the investigation revealed, the perpetrators of the first explosion were two students from a local technical college who, acting on orders from the rusсists, planted explosives in a Ukrainian soldier’s vehicle.
In addition, the perpetrators set up a video camera near the ‘target’– disguised inside a juice carton – that allowed the enemy to access the footage remotely.
With the help of a disguised device, russian intelligence agents tracked the soldier as he approached the vehicle and remotely detonated it.
As a result of the explosion, the victim sustained minor injuries, and his vehicle was significantly damaged.
Law enforcement officers also apprehended shortly after the crime the perpetrator of another sensational terrorist attack that occurred that same day in the port city.
He turned out to be a local repeat offender who had previously been prosecuted multiple times for drug trafficking.
The perpetrator planted an improvised explosive device under the car of a civilian who was working as a part-time taxi driver. According to preliminary forensic findings, the explosive had a yield of nearly half a kilogram of TNT.
According to the case file, russian intelligence agents remotely detonated the vehicle while it was moving, killing the driver instantly and seriously injuring the passenger, who was hospitalized.
It has been established that the ruscists recruited all the individuals involved through Telegram channels advertising ‘easy money’.
During searches of the detainees, mobile phones and various SIM cards containing evidence of collaboration with the enemy were seized.
At this time, the SSU investigators have already notified two of the suspects that they are under investigation under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act). They face up to 12 years' imprisonment and property confiscation.
Another suspect has been charged under Article 258.3 of the CCU (a terrorist act resulting in the death of a person). He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The suspects are in custody.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SSU officers in the Odesa region in cooperation with the SSU military counterintelligence and the National Police, under the procedural guidance of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The SSU reminds you once again: if you are approached with such 'proposals', if you have seen suspicious objects or individuals, or if you have received information about the activities of russian intelligence services or the websites and social media pages they use for recruitment, please report this to the SSU:
