SSU and National Police expose two more arsonists recruited by rushists through online acquaintances

The SSU and the National Police detained two more arsonists who were carrying out orders from the russia in Zaporizhzhia. Following instructions from the rushists, the suspects attempted to destroy a communications facility and state civil registration office.

As the investigation revealed, the suspects acted independently but came to the enemy’s attention through the same scheme - while seeking connections via Telegram channels. There, ‘girls’ contacted them from fake accounts, offering intimate relationships.

Subsequently, residents of Zaporizhzhia were called by representatives of russian intelligence іукмшсуі who posed as the SSU officers and informed them that their online acquaintances had been ‘detained’ for collaborating with russia.

As a result of the manipulation, the men agreed to set fires in exchange for the ‘release’ of their girlfriends from custody.

Law enforcement officers detained both suspects within 24 hours of the crimes being committed. During searches of the detainees' residences, flammable mixtures and smartphones containing evidence of activities against the enemy were seized.

Based on the SSU materials, both suspects are served notices of suspicion under Article 194.2 of the CCU (intentional destruction or damage to property by arson).

The offenders face up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out by the SSU officers in the Zaporizhzhia region in cooperation with the National Police, under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defence Affairs of the Eastern Region and the Voznesenivka District Prosecutor’s Office in the city of Zaporizhzhia.

The SSU reminds you once again: if you are approached with such ‘proposals’, if you have seen suspicious objects or individuals, or if you have received information about the activities of russian intelligence services or the websites and social media pages they use for recruitment, please report this to the SSU:
