SSU and National Police detain enemy agent preparing assassination attempt on defence plant official in Zaporizhzhia

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police prevented a high-profile crime in Zaporizhzhia. As a result of pre-emptive actions, an enemy agent who was preparing an assassination attempt on a lead specialist at a local plant of Ukraine’s military industrial complex has been detained.

The perpetrator is a 23-year-old unemployed resident of Zaporizhzhia. He came to the attention of the russian intelligence while looking for easy money on Telegram.

After fulfilling test tasks, the occupiers instructed him to prepare a physical elimination of a high-ranking official.

The agent was promised a quick payment and began collecting data on the target, his schedule and routes.

The enemy accomplice set up an observation post opposite the plant’s checkpoint to track the official.

The SSU documented that he filmed a video when the plant employee left through the checkpoint. After that, the traitor secretly followed the man to find out his home address.

After conducting reconnaissance, the asset reported to his russian handler via messenger and sent the video surveillance files.

He then waited for further instructions from the russian service on how to eliminate the Ukrainian engineer.

Simultaneously with working on the main assignment, the agent tracked the locations of the Defence Forces in Zaporizhzhia, which the ruscists planned to attack with guided aerial bombs.

The SSU acted pre-emptively and detained the suspect while he was conducting reconnaissance near military transport.

A smartphone, which he used to report to the russians about the preparations for the assassination, was seized during the search.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Zaporizhzhia Office jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
