SSU and National Police detain enemy agent who set fire to Ukrainian railway facilities in Poltava region
In Poltava oblast, the SSU and the National Police have apprehended an accomplice of the occupiers who was preparing a series of arsons on strategic facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways].
The enemy was targeting relay cabinets on the main railway lines in the region.
For the sabotage, russian intelligence recruited a local resident from Lubny district.
He came to the enemy’s attention when he was looking for easy money on Telegram channels.
The agent tracked potential targets and then watched them through binoculars, choosing time for arson.
The man purchased a flammable mixture, protective gloves, a knife and a multifunctional hammer for breaking the doors of power equipment.
Using these, he set fire to a relay cabinet and filmed the fire on his phone camera.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator planned to carry out more arsons.
The law enforcement detained the arsonist when he was conducting reconnaissance near a new target. The SSU seized his mobile phone with evidence of communication with the occupiers as well as the tools used in the crime.
SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Articles 113.2 and 14.1, 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, preparation for sabotage, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
