SSU and National Police detain FSB saboteurs who blew up railway track in front of Ukrzaliznytsia train

In Khmelnytskyi region, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have neutralized an FSB sabotage group. The two perpetrators blew up a track on a local railway line, along which a freight train was moving.

To carry out the sabotage, they manufactured a remote-controlled improvised explosive device filled with TNT and plastic explosive.

The saboteurs placed the explosive device under the railway rails and activated it when the locomotive approached. To report to the occupiers, their accomplices recorded blowing up of the track on a phone camera.

No one was injured in the incident. The train driver managed to stop the train in time. After the railway track was repaired, the train with the cargo continued to its destination.

The law enforcement detained both saboteurs in a matter of hours in hot pursuit. While fleeing the scene, they changed cars and got into another one to hide the traces of the crime.

However, this did not help them. During the search, the SSU seized explosives and mobile phones with evidence of the sabotage.

The perpetrators are two residents of Khmelnytskyi region aged 28 and 29. One of them is a drug addict, the other – a deserter who left his military unit without permission and was hiding.

Both men came to the enemy’s attention when they were looking for easy money on Telegram channels.

However, instead of the promised money from russia, the detainees received suspicion notices from SSU investigators under Article 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed under martial law).

The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
