SSU and National Police detain sabotage group that set fire to Ukrzaliznytsia facilities near border on instructions of russian intelligence services
In Chernihiv region, the SSU, together with the National Police, has dismantled a sabotage group that was trying to destroy Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways] facilities in the border area on the instructions of russian intelligence services.
According to the investigation, the ruscists planned to disrupt the movement of personnel, equipment and ammunition to the front line by setting fire to relay cabinets and railway signaling systems.
The sabotage group consisted of four residents of Odesa and Chernihiv regions. The offenders were looking for "easy money" in Telegram channels, where they were recruited by the russian intelligence service.
To fulfill the enemy's task, the saboteurs first reconnoitered the locations of railway power equipment and then photographed them to "agree" the targets with the occupiers.
Following a command from their supervisor, the traitors committed arson attacks using a flammable mixture.
In this way, they attempted to destroy four relay cabinets.
After setting fire, the suspects recorded the date, time and place of the sabotage on video.
SSU officers detained the saboteurs red-handed.
The detainees were seized of cell phones used in subversive activities in the interests of the aggressor country.
SSU investigators have served them suspicion notices under Articles 28.2 and 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law).
The detainees are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernihiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
