SSU and National Police detain enemy informant spying on Kharkiv defenders and waiting for occupation

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have apprehended another enemy informant near Kharkiv. He turned out to be a 38-year-old local supporter of ruscism, who was passing the locations of the Defense Forces to the occupiers and waiting for the capture of the region.

The man came to the attention of the russian intelligence after he left comments in support of putin on Telegram.

After remote recruitment, the enemy accomplice began gathering information on the locations of Kharkiv’s defenders.

To do this, he drove around the area near the city and covertly recorded the coordinates of Ukrainian troops.

The russians planned to use the intelligence to prepare air strikes on the region and for the russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to try and break through.

The SSU uncovered the covert connection between the informant and his handler in russia. A phone with evidence of the crimes was seized during searches.

A linguistic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed the facts of the perpetrator’s subversive activities against Ukraine.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on the location of the AFU, with the aim of providing such information to the aggressor state);
  • 436-2.1 (justification of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Bohodukhiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
