SSU and National Police detain another four FSB accomplices who carried out arsons in Kyiv and Volyn regions on russia’s orders
The Security Service and the National Police have apprehended another four arsonists who were acting on the enemy’s orders in Kyiv and Volyn oblasts.
The aggressor’s targets were administrative buildings of state institutions and homes of Ukrainian servicemen’s families.
To carry out arson attacks, the ruscists remotely recruited local residents who were looking for easy money on Telegram channels.
In Kyiv region, three residents of Obukhiv district, aged 17 and 19, were detained for setting fire to a building of a local village council in Fastiv district.
To do that, they broke a window in the building and then poured a flammable mixture inside causing a fire.
Another perpetrator was caught in Volyn region. He is a 38-year-old resident who had previously served a prison sentence for drug offences and, after serving his time, started to cooperate with russia’s federal security service.
On their instructions, the repeat offender set fire to the front doors of apartments where Ukrainian servicemen live.
His next task was to commit sabotage at mobile communication facilities near Lutsk.
The law enforcement detained him on an attempt to set fire to the technological equipment of a cellular tower near the city.
During the searches, arson tools and mobile phones with evidence of sabotage against Ukraine were seized.
The detainees have been notified of suspicion of crimes under four Articles of the CCU (in accordance with actions each of them committed):
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 360.2 (intentional damage or destruction of a telecommunications network);
- 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property by arson).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region and in Volyn region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of regional prosecutors.
