SSU and National Police detain another five pro-russian agitators across Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, has detained another five pro-kremlin agitators who called on ruscists to continue strikes on Ukraine and to seize the entire territory of the country.
In Cherkasy oblast, the law enforcement exposed the wife of a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (moscow patriarchate), who praised putin in messaging apps and urged continued airstrikes against Ukraine. Her primary audience consisted of acquaintances and members of the parish.
In Kirovohrad region, the SSU cyber units detained a local unemployed man who used Telegram channels to call for the seizure of government institutions and the forceful overthrow of Ukraine’s constitutional order.
In Kherson, a hospital employee was declared suspect for glorifying russian armed groupings on TikTok and Odnoklassniki, as well as supporting the temporary occupation of Crimea. Another agitator in this region supported the so-called ‘annexation’ of Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories by russia and called for strikes on Ukrainian cities in her posts.
In Vinnytsia oblast, the law enforcement identified another supporter of ruscism who disseminated banned communist symbols and soviet slogans via his Facebook account. Investigators established that he sourced the provocative content from russian groups on various social media platforms.
Forensic linguistic analysis initiated by the SSU confirmed the suspects’ involvement in information and subversive activities carried out for russia’s benefit.
The perpetrators have now been notified of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:
- 109.2 (public calls for forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, as well as dissemination of materials containing such calls);
- 436-1.1 (dissemination of communist regime symbols);
- parts 2 and 3 of 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, or denial russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and glorification of its participants).
The suspects face up to eight years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were conducted by the SSU Regional Offices under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutors’ Offices.
