SSU and National Police detain another five arsonists including one who tried to destroy synagogue in Kryvyi Rih

The Security Service and National Police have uncovered new attempts by russia to destabilize the internal situation in the capital and frontline regions of Ukraine.

Five accomplices of russian special services who committed a series of arson attacks in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions have been detained.

In Kryvyi Rih, a 14-year-old teenager was apprehended: on orders of russian special services he attempted to burn down a local synagogue.

To commit the crime, he prepared two Molotov cocktails. The young man waited until dark, arrived at the synagogue and set fire to its entrance door, hoping that the flames would spread.

According to the investigation, the minor came to russia’s attention while looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels. However, he never received the promised payment. Instead, he got a suspicion notice from our law enforcement agencies.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, two deserters were detained: in exchange for promises of quick ‘earnings’ they agreed to destroy AFU cars.

After setting fire to a military pickup truck, the agents were ordered to make an improvised explosive device to carry out a terrorist attack. However, the SSU foiled the enemy’s plans and detained the perpetrators immediately after the first arson attack.

In Kharkiv region, a 22-year-old FSB agent was detained who, on the orders of the russian special service, burned relay and battery cabinets on Ukrainian railways.

In this way, the enemy attempted to disable the power equipment that ensures uninterrupted movement of trains, including military convoys.

A minor accomplice of the occupiers was detained in Kyiv. He turned out to be a 16-year-old student of a vocational school in Vinnytsia region.

On the instructions of the russian special services, he came to Kyiv to set fire to off-road vehicles belonging to the Defense Forces.

The law enforcement detained the suspect as he was trying to burn a service vehicle belonging to a UAV operator of the National Guard of Ukraine.

The detained individuals have been notified of suspicion of committing crimes under three Articles of the CCU, according to the actions each of them carried out:

  • 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
  • 114-1.1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU, during a special period);
  • 194.2 (intentional damage to property by arson).

The suspects face various prison terms, including life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operations were carried out by the SSU regional offices under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
