SSU and National Police detain another five arsonists, including woman and her minor son, who carried out russia’s orders
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have apprehended another five accomplices of russian intelligence services who carried out arson attacks in several regions of Ukraine.
Their targets were administrative buildings of state institutions, off-road vehicles of the Defence Forces and relay cabinets on Ukrainian railways.
To commit the arsons, russia remotely recruited local residents who were looking for easy money on Telegram channels.
In Dnipropetrovsk region:
A 40-year-old local woman was detained for organizing arson of an Armed Forces pickup truck and three relay cabinets on railway lines.
She received the orders via a messenger app from russia and engaged her 17-year-old son and his classmate to carry them out.
After approval on a potential target, the boys arrived at its location together and set fire to it using flammable mixture.
In Rivne:
A 17-year-old local college student was detained in hot pursuit after he set fire to an AFU vehicle. The car had been brought to the city for maintenance after combat missions at the front.
To carry out the arson, the individual made the incendiary mixture in his dorm room.
In Khmelnytskyi region:
A 34-year-old woman from Shepetivka was detained for setting fire to the city council building. First, she broke a window on the first floor of the administrative building and then threw a bottle of incendiary mixture inside.
The fire damaged the windowsill and the floor in one of the offices of the state institution.
The detainees have been notified of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU (according to the actions each of them committed):
- 28.2, 113.2 (sabotage, committed upon prior conspiracy by a group, under martial law);
- 114-1.2 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations);
- 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property by arson).
The suspects face prison terms, including life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were conducted by the SSU regional offices jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutors.
