SSU and National Police detain 5 enemy accomplices who carried out arsons in Ukraine on russia’s orders

The SSU and the National Police have apprehended another five accomplices of russian intelligence services who committed arsons in Kyiv and Ternopil regions.

The persons involved are repeat offenders and unemployed seekers of easy money on Telegram.

On occupiers’ orders, they tried to destroy two military vehicles and an administrative building using flammable mixtures.

In Kyiv region:

A 24-year-old resident of the capital, who had previously served a prison sentence for drug trafficking, robbery and fraud, has been detained in hot pursuit.

After the release, he began cooperating with russia and agreed to perform a test task: burn an off-road vehicle that belonged to Ukrainian servicemen. He was detained by the law enforcement immediately after committing a new crime.

Another two perpetrators were uncovered in a village in Fastiv district, where they rented an apartment.

Both men were detained immediately after they set fire to an SUV of one of Ukrainian assault units that returned from the front line.

The enemy accomplices recorded the fire on their mobile phones and sent a report to their russian handler.

According to the investigation, the individuals arrived in Kyiv region from Donetsk region three years ago as internally displaced persons. One of them had already been prosecuted for robbery in 2018.

In Ternopil region:

Two local residents aged 20 and 23 have been detained. They tried to destroy an administrative building of a village council near Ternopil.

The perpetrators broke a window of the state institution and poured a flammable mixture into the building and set it on fire.

The detained arsonists have been notified of suspicion (in accordance with the crimes committed) under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 114-1.1 (obstructing the AFU’s lawful activities, during a special period);
  • 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property, committed by arson).

The suspects are in custody and face up to 10 years in prison.

The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region and in Ternopil region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
