SSU and National Police detain another six arsonists who acted on russia’s orders in Kyiv and Cherkasy regions
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police apprehended another six accomplices of russian special services who committed arson attacks in the northern and central regions of Ukraine.
The enemy’s targets were energy facilities on Ukrainian railways, court administrative buildings, and military vehicles undergoing maintenance after returning from the front.
The perpetrators were local residents recruited by the occupiers when they were looking for ‘quick money’ on Telegram.
In Cherkasy region, a 25-year-old arsonist was detained for attempt to burn down a local court building.
To do this, the man smashed the glass on the front door of the state institution at night and then poured a flammable mixture inside and set it on fire.
One of his peers also destroyed a relay cabinet and a transformer substation on the railroad line used by military trains.
On russia’s instructions, another their accomplice equipped a cache where he stored 4 kg of explosives to be used in terrorist attacks.
In Kyiv’s Pechersk district, a 32-year-old installer from a private company and his friend were apprehended for destroying an Armed Forces multivan.
According to investigators, they acted together: one set the car on fire, the other filmed this for their russian handler.
Two more arsonists were detained in Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. They are a 24-year-old Kyiv resident and his partner who burned down a service car of a Ukrainian soldier and tried to destroy a truck parked nearby.
Both perpetrators were caught ‘red-handed’ near the scene.
The detained individuals were notified of suspicion under several Articles of the CCU, according to the actions each of them committed:
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
- 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives);
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of the AFU’s lawful activities, during a special period);
- 194.2 (intentional damage to property by arson, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region and Cherkasy region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s offices.
