SSU and National Police detain another four individuals involved in attack on military personnel and law enforcement in Lviv

Jointly with the National Police, the Security Service has apprehended another four individuals for their involvement in the July 8 attack on military personnel and law enforcement officers in Lviv.

Those detained are two 21- and 45-year-old residents of Lviv, and two 28-year-old military personnel, one of whom had gone AWOL.

The pre-trial investigation established that the suspects were the most active participants in the incident. They blocked the path of the service vehicle carrying military personnel, jumped onto it and damaged the vehicle.

The detainees are now being notified of suspicion under the following Articles of the CCU, reflecting the offences they are alleged to have committed:

  •       114-1.1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a special period);
  •       407 (unauthorised absence from military service).

The incident occurred on Chervona Kalyna Avenue in Lviv during mobilisation notification activities conducted by military and police officers.

Earlier, the SSU and the National Police had already detained one of the participants in the disturbances who attacked a law enforcement officer during the incident, causing bodily harm.

Investigative and operational measures are underway to identify and prosecute all those involved.

The SSU Office in the Lviv region is working on the case together with the National Police, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
