SSU and National Police detain another two arsonists carrying out russia’s tasks in Kyiv region and Sumy
The SSU and the National Police have apprehended another two arsonists who were performing orders of russian intelligence in several regions of Ukraine.
Their targets were buildings of Ukrainian state institutions and vehicles of Ukrainian defenders.
To commit the attacks, the enemy remotely recruited two local residents who were looking for quick money on Telegram. However, instead of the promised payments, the perpetrators received notices of suspicion and the prospect of imprisonment.
In Kyiv region:
An 18-year-old resident of Kaharlyk district has been detained for setting fire to the building of the local territorial community.
To commit the crime, the young man broke the window of the state institution and poured a flammable mixture inside.
He filmed the fire on his phone camera and sent a report to his russian handler.
After completing the first assignment, the asset was supposed to start the second - burn the Ukrposhta building in a neighbouring village. However, he was not able to do so as he was detained in hot pursuit.
In Sumy:
A 35-year-old unemployed man was apprehended for setting fire to two reception offices of the Territorial Recruitment Centers and three cars of Ukrainian military servicemen.
Both detained individuals have been notified of suspicion (in accordance with the crimes committed) under two Articles of the CCU:
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU, during a special period);
- 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property).
The suspects are in custody and face up to 10 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region and in Sumy region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
