SSU and National Bank present commemorative coin dedicated to special operation Spider Web
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine have presented a commemorative coin dedicated to the unique special operation Spider Web. The coin has a face value of 5 Hryvnias, and its planned mintage is 75,000 units in souvenir packaging.
‘The issuance of a coin that captures the Spider Web operation is a great honour for the entire team of the Security Service who took part in the special operation. The SSU has proven that no matter how far the enemy may be, they cannot hide from just retribution. Our officers know how to operate with surgical precision and strike where the adversary least expects it. And they will continue to do so!’ said SSU Head, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
On the obverse of the coin, the centre of the composition features an image of a Trojan horse and a silhouette of a truck behind it. These elements symbolise the covert transportation of FPV drones into russian territory and reference the ancient Greek legend of the stratagem that allowed warriors to secretly enter an enemy city.
The reverse shows the silhouette of a drone with a warhead and the inscription ‘117 FPV DRONES’ – the number of UAVs used in the special operation. The central element is a mirrored silhouette of a large strategic aircraft – the main target of the strike.
‘The Security Service of Ukraine has once again demonstrated that Ukrainian courage, multiplied by intellect and ingenuity, makes possible even what at first glance seems unattainable. Their operation Spider Web dealt a severe blow to the enemy and became a source of pride for the entire country. Our coin will symbolically engrave in metal not only the fact of this unique operation, but also our respect for Ukraine’s Security Service, and the strength of an institution that, through tireless daily work, defends the country — precisely and uncompromisingly,’ emphasised the National Bank Governor Andriy Pyshnyi.
The SSU’s special operation Spider Web was carried out on 1 June 2025. As a result, 41 military aircraft at four airfields of the aggressor state were struck by specially designed FPV drones. The total losses inflicted on russia amounted to more than USD 7 billion.
