SSU and Prosecutor General notify suspicion to russian propagandist Baskov who supports russia’s war against Ukraine

The Security Service and the Office of the Prosecutor General have collected additional evidence and notified pro-kremlin propagandist Nikolai Baskov of new charges.

According to the investigation, he is a participant in russian propaganda, part of a circle of artists close to putin, and actively supports russia’s aggression, the annexation of Crimea, and violations of Ukraine’s fundamental rights to independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

It has been documented that at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg in 2023, Baskov, along with other propagandists, presented cash certificates to the russian military personnel for destroying Ukrainian tanks.

Baskov has regularly appeared on live broadcasts of russian television channels, where he called on people to take up arms and continue the war against our state.

It has been established that he repeatedly visited the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where he held concerts in support of russian militants.

The propagandist also actively conducted provocative livestreams from his Instagram and YouTube accounts, where he discredited Ukrainians as a nation and justified the atrocities committed by occupiers.

Based on evidence collected by the SSU, Nikolai Baskov has been notified of suspicion under several Articles of the CCU:

  • 110.2 (encroachment upon the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
  • 110-2.1 (financing of actions committed with the aim of changing the territory or state border of Ukraine);
  • 436 (propaganda of war);
  • 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, or denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and glorification of its participants through the media).

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
