SSU and PGO detain head of regional Territorial Recruitment Centre in Mykolaiv receiving bribes from draft evaders
In collaboration with the Prosecutor General’s Office and with the support of the General Staff leadership, the Security Service has dismantled a large-scale mobilisation evasion scheme in Mykolaiv. As a result, the head of the regional Territorial Recruitment Centre has been detained for accepting bribes to help those liable for military service evade conscription.
The investigation revealed that the official arranged for false information about ‘clients’ to be entered into the Oberih system, ensuring they were removed from the wanted list.
It has been documented that the official solicited USD 20,000 from four draft dodgers for these ‘services’.
The law enforcement caught the suspect ‘red-handed’ while he was receiving the bribe.
Searches are currently underway at the administrative building of the regional TRC, as well as at the official’s home and registered addresses.
The detainee is set to be charged under Article 368.3 of the CCU for accepting an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by a public official.
The suspect faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing to bring all those involved in the criminal scheme to justice.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region with the assistance of the South Operational Command and under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
