In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief HQ, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Security Service and other units of the Defence Forces are carrying out a series of enhanced security measures in the northern regions of our country.

These measures are unprecedented in terms of the number of forces and resources deployed in the territories bordering russia and belarus and will serve as an effective deterrent against any aggressive actions or operations by the enemy and its ally.

The Anti-Terrorist Centre at the SSU is coordinating these efforts. In addition to Security Service units, the National Police, the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service are also participating.

The comprehensive measures include large-scale pre-emptive actions in the areas of counterintelligence and countersabotage protection in the Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Volyn, and Rivne regions.

Primarily, the efforts of these teams will be aimed at preventing enemy infiltration into border areas, sabotage and terrorist acts, subversive and reconnaissance activities, and other war crimes.

Among other things, security forces will:

• conduct enhanced checks of citizens present in the areas where security measures are carried out;
• inspect the territory and individual premises to detect items prohibited from circulation.

The preventive activities are being carried out in accordance with the legal regime of martial law.

During these operations, restrictions on movement and passage through the streets of certain settlements, checks of citizens’ documents, and vehicle inspections may occur.

The Security Service asks citizens to be understanding of any inconveniences and to respond appropriately to the lawful actions and requests of law enforcement officers, to carry identification documents, and to observe the curfew.

We emphasise that in its activities, the Security Service adheres to the principle of legality and the constitutional inviolability of citizens’ rights and freedoms.
