SSU hits three aircraft and three helicopters at Rostov-Central military airfield, strikes Yaroslavl Oil Refinery, in joint operation with Defence Forces

On the night of 17 September, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a special operation at the Rostov-Central military airfield in Rostov-on-Don, during which it successfully targeted a number of russian aerial assets.

Long-range drones of the SSU Alfa Special Operations Centre struck:

  • an An-12 military transport aircraft;
  • two An-26 military transport aircraft;
  • three helicopters.

A large-scale fire broke out at the aircraft and helicopter parking area, accompanied by secondary detonations.

In addition, the SSU, in conjunction with the Ukrainian Defence Forces (Unmanned Systems Forces, DIU and others), targeted the Yaroslavl oil refinery. A fire has been reported following the air attack on the refinery.

The SSU continues to systematically strike russian military and strategic infrastructure facilities that are supporting the war against Ukraine. Such special operations are a direct response to the enemy’s massive attacks on Ukraine, during which the aggressor systematically uses missiles, attack drones and aircraft to terrorise the population and destroy civilian infrastructure.
