SSU strikes fighter jets at Saky airfield and hangars at Hvardiyiske airfield in Crimea second time in week

As part of the 40-day operation to exert pressure on russia, the Security Service has carried out a successful drone strike on the Saky and Hvardiyiske military airfields in temporarily occupied Crimea, to fulfil the tasks set by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

At the Saky airfield, seven hangars used to store aircraft have been hit. These housed fighter jets and frontline bombers Su-30SM, Su-30 and Su-24. According to preliminary reports, at least seven aircraft have been destroyed or damaged.

This is the second strike by the SSU on the Saky airfield this week.

At the Hvardiyiske airfield, two hangars housing Shahed drones and aviation equipment have been hit.

The Saky and Hvardiyiske airfields are among russia’s key air bases in Crimea. Tactical aircraft regularly take off from there to carry out missile and bombing strikes on Ukrainian territory and support the operations of the russian troops in the south.

The Security Service continues to carry out the tasks set by the President of Ukraine, systematically degrading russia’s military capabilities. Each of our special operations targets enemy aviation, logistics, depots, equipment and infrastructure that support russian aggression. We will continue to exert maximum pressure on the aggressor, both on the front line and deep behind enemy lines, to deprive russia of the ability to wage war against Ukraine,’ emphasised the SSU Acting Head Yevheniy Khmara.
